Everquest 2

everquestAhhhh, EverCrack. Uhmm…I mean EverQuest. Really, I do. :) Despite my love for role-playing in general and MMORPGs specifically I don’t play EverQuest. You are probably wondering why this is when it is such a great game. Some might even say an addictive game. Addictive like crack. Well believe it or not there is a story. My very good friend’s husband was once addicted to EverQuest. This was while they were in college. He was premed and she was working towards a degree in business. Well they were as happy two little peas in a pod until the evil game came along. Apparently once he started playing he started slacking off on the school work and lost some of his scholarships, not a good thing. Then he started ignoring her and telling her he was too busy to do things with her because of the game, an even worse thing. One day he got all bent out of shape because their computer (they lived together and shared a computer) wasn’t running fast enough. Apparently, some of the school work she’d been doing had caused some pretty bad fragmentation and he hadn’t known about it. He then had to defrag the computer and miss out on valuable game time. Poor baby. He got grumpy and told her to make sure she defragged the machine if she did anything else, etc. This went on and on until she finally through a royal fit and told him she was leaving and if he wanted her to come back he had to drop the game. Ouch.

Needless to say he did and they are now happily married. That was when I met them, the happily married part. Well he started playing again and friction started. I was just getting back into MMORPGs and thought it might be fun to give this game a try. She found out and was distraught. I think that’s the right word. She didn’t tell me I couldn’t play but yeah, it was traumatic and there were other games to choose from. And that’s why I am EverCrack free.
