Speed or Disk Space

clockIf you love to game as much (or more) as I love to game then you know the two most important things you can look for in a gaming machine are speed and memory. Yeah, yeah graphics are important too but if you don’t have enough disk space or your processor is dragging you’ll never see them. Priorities people.

So out of the two, speed or disk space, which is the most important? I mean which one should you without a doubt focus on? I’m going to go with disk space — you know why? Because the more memory the more games you can have on your machine. More equals better, right? Well for me it does because I’m a total flutterbudget. I like to flit from one game to another and never stick with one for too long (you know…a few weeks to a month) before I’m ready for something different. It’s not like I just abandon a game forever — I’ll come back to it eventually. That’s why I need lots of disk space. I want to leave it there so I can come back to it.

Of course all of that disk space really won’t help if you are constantly adding new games and adding patches and deleting useless information (like those term papers you really should have finished, but dude…quest!) So even with great disk space and super speed you’ll still want to defrag the beast every once in awhile. I say get rid of fragmentation every time you switch games…but that would only work for those of us who flit.

What do you think is more important in a gaming machine, speed or disk space?
